On the second day of Christmas my true love sent to me, two turtle doves…
On day two of our 12 Days of Christmas Posts we turn to Twitter. What would our year have looked like without Twitter? Our version of an alternate ending to It’s a Wonderful Life? Thankfully, our health information technology universe is just as it is, in part due to this list of great Twitterers. They kept us informed, engaged, and often amused throughout the year.
This year we followed the hashtag. From conferences to HIT topics, we were following and highlighting the tweeters and what they were saying. To name a few conferences – #DHC14, #AHIMAcon14, #HIMSS14. Not to forget the celebrations – #NursesWeek, #NHCW2014, #NHIT. And just the daily HIT buzz – #mHealth, #meaningfuluse, #NoDelay. Check out all our highlights.
The list of great bloggers, reporters, health information technology pundits, and policy wonks we follow on Twitter is long and varied so it was a tough task narrowing our picks to just a few. That being said, our Twitter life in 2014 would have been a whole lot less meaningful without these fellow contributors. Making our list yet another year are our holiday penguin favorites Tom Sullivan (@GovHITEditor), Brian Ahier (@Ahier), John Lynn (@TechGuy) and Dr. Nick van Terheyden ( @DrNic1).
When we aren’t hanging out with our elf friends you can find us following these Twitter favorites – Matt Fisher @Matt_R_Fisher, Erin McCann @EMcCannHITN, and Steven Posnack @HealthIT_Policy. And check out these companies that keep you up to date with the latest – Health Security Solutions @HIPAASolutions, Allscripts @Allscripts, and Health Catalyst @HealthCatalyst.
Are you subscribed to any Twitter lists? Here are some worthy of a mention; our Health IT Thought Leaders, our HIT RECs ATCBs and HIEs, Jennifer Dennard’s HITchicks, Kareo’s Trust the Experts, the Mississippi Hospital Associaltion’s Health IT, Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority’s Media – All, and McKesson Health Solutions’ HIT News.
And finally, as the song goes, You are nobody til somebody follows you… (Or the current interpretation of the song!). To all our loyal followers, we would be nothing without your retweets and mentions. Here are just a few we can always count on for sure that’s what followers are for (is that a song too?) Kathy McCoy @kathymccoy, Mandi Bishop @MandiBPro, Gerry Wieder @GerryWieder, Joy Rios @askjoyrios, and K Todd Houston @ktoddhouston.
Thanks for making our Twitter more meaningful. Happy Holidays.
