ONC Committee Meetings and other Health IT Events
Checking in on our Marketplace Event Calendar for August we find some interesting conferences and events you might be interested in.
Starting with the ONC’s HIT Policy and Standards Committees. The HIT Policy Committee will meet on August 1st and the Standards Committee on the 15th. Look for locations and agenda to be announced soon. As always you can join the meeting by webcast.
Celebrate National Health Center Week from August 5-1th this year.
Each year the second week in August is dedicated to celebrating the services and contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers. While there are countless reasons to celebrate America’s Health Centers, among the most important and unique is their long success in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost effective health care to medically vulnerable and under-served people throughout the United States.
The Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) is celebrating 50 years of Healthcare supply chain education this year at their annual conference on August 5-8 in San Antonio, Texas. Be sure to take in historic San Antonio and the Alamo while you are there!
The Center for Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its division have a few events scheduled next month. The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is pleased to invite you to attend their biennial 2012 National Conference on Health Statistics to be held August 6–8, 2012, at the Renaissance Washington DC Downtown Hotel, 999 Ninth Street NW, Washington, DC 20001. The conference is free but space is limited. The 2012 CDC National Cancer Conference will be held August 21-23 also in Washington, DC but at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. This year’s theme is, “Uniting Systems, Policy & Practice in Cancer Prevention and Control.” And also the CDC brings you the 6th Annual National Conference on Health Communication, Marketing, and Media on August 7-9 in Atlanta, Georgia. The conferences promises to bring together academia, public health researchers and practitioners from all levels of government and private sectors, along with providing a forum for cross-disciplinary dialogue.
The National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH) members are acting and past persons on boards of health, public health professionals, students, and educators. Their newsletters are written exclusively for boards of health. This year their 20th Annual Conference, “Celebrating Achievements, Shaping the Future” will be held on August 8-10, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Atlanta, Georgia.
And finally, the School of Public Health at Harvard University is hosting, Measurement, Design, and Analysis Methods for Health Outcomes Research on August 20–22, 2012 in Boston, MA. The program will provide participants with an overview of several topics in the field of health outcomes research, equipping newcomers with knowledge of the language and concepts of both public health research and statistical methods. The setting will be an interactive classroom. It is geared towards introductory to intermediate outcomes research professionals.
