Health Care Leaders from IBM, Optum, and Studer Group Discuss The Future of Health Care

Caravan Health (@CaravanHealth) will host its fifth Accountable Care Symposium, the first held virtually, for thought leaders, decision makers, and frontline practitioners in accountable care from across the nation. From December 7-10, health care visionaries will have the opportunity to listen to keynote speakers, learn best practices from peers, and watch and support awards presentations.

Among the confirmed speakers are:

  • Dr. Patrick Conway, Chief Executive Officer, Care Solutions at Optum
  • Dr. Rahul Rajkumar, Senior Vice President Chief Medical Officer, BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina
  • Dr. Kyu Rhee, Chief Medical Officer, IBM Watson Health
  • Joe Scarborough, MSNBC commentator and host of Morning Joe
  • Brock Slabach, Senior Vice President, National Rural Health Association
  • Quint Studer, Founder, Studer Group

Dr. Kyu Rhee, the Chief Medical Officer at IBM Watson Health, has worked extensively in community health and equity while reinventing the culture of health care. He is highly-respected in the industry and has encouraged the transition from value-based care to “values based care”.

“It’s no longer enough to provide patient care,” commented Dr. Rhee. “Using technology will open new doors so that we continue delivering high-quality, sustainable values-based care in the new year.”

The four-day virtual event will combine four different learning topics geared to all levels of ACO experience and a wide range of organizational roles. These topics include program and policy updates, best practices for better patient care, strategies for financial success and sustainability and innovations in technology. On December 9, Former Congressman (R-FL) and co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, Joe Scarborough, will share his perspectives on what our nation can expect in 2021.

Dr. Patrick Conway, CEO of Care Solutions at Optum, is scheduled to speak on improving patient care and will focus part of his presentation on redemption after failure. Prior to Optum, Dr. Conway was the CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina and before that was Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Administrator and Director for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation at Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Dr. Conway added: “The symposium is an incredible opportunity for health care leaders across the country to learn how to secure their future in risk-based payment models and connect with top practitioners and experts in population health.
