Arizona Health-e Connection (AzHeC) and Health Information Network of Arizona (HINAz) have completed a merger and are now one operational and legal entity as of January 1, 2016. This merger culminates a collaborative two-year process that began when the Boards of AzHeC and HINAz voted to formally affiliate and combine operations in February 2014.

CMS acting administrator Andy Slavitt, made a statement (“… we’re now in the process of ending meaningful use”…) that took on a life of its own and soon the mole hill became a mountain. With 2015 rapidly winding down, DirectTrust released a list of six trends it predicts for interoperable electronic exchange of health information during the coming year. DirectTrust is a health care industry alliance created by and for participants in the Direct exchange network used for secure, interoperable exchange of personal health information (PHI) between provider organizations, and between provider and patients, for the purpose of improved coordination of care.
