CCHIT No Longer Accepting Certification Applications
In a letter to their customers, Alisa Ray, Executive Director of CCHIT announced a change in their strategic direction. Effective immediately, they will no longer be accepting applications for testing and certification services in any of their programs. Stating the slow pace of EHR vendors to certifiy products for 2014, unpredictable program requirements, and timing as reasons for the changes.
Current customers with 2014 Certifications or in the testing process have the option of being transitioned to ICSA Labs. ICSA Labs is an independent division of Verizon and one of the current ONC -Authorized Testing and Certification Body ( ONC-ATCB). However, CCHIT customers can chose any of the current accredited testing bodies but will have to enter into new agreements with them.
Moving forward, CCHIT will be offering services to support vendor achieving and maintaining EHR certifications. These will begin once all the current certification customers have transitioned to other ACTBs. CCHIT will also be entering into an alliance with HIMSS. This alliance will help CCHIT move to the advisory and leadership roles for providers and HIT vendors in health IT adoption. It will include future summits the first will be at HIMSS in Orlando.
