All Of Colorado’s Largest Medical Laboratories Now Participating In The CORHIO Health Information Exchange
CORHIO, the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization, has announced that Quest Diagnostics is now connected to its health information exchange (HIE), and as a result all of the largest medical laboratories are now participating in the network that links health care providers throughout the state. Quest Diagnostics is the world’s leading provider of diagnostic information services. The company operates a clinical laboratory in Denver that serves patients in Colorado. “Given our long-standing commitment to Colorado, we are proud to participate in the exchange, and look forward to delivering diagnostic insights that help drive better health for patients and providers in the state,” says Stuart Smith, Regional Vice President, Commercial, Quest Diagnostics.
Quest Diagnostics joins LabCorp, Colorado Laboratory Services (CLS) and nearly all of the state’s large hospital laboratories as active participants on the CORHIO HIE network. Cedar Diagnostics and Schryver Medical are two additional large medical laboratories that are in the process of connecting to the CORHIO HIE. As a result of broad participation by labs in Colorado, CORHIO estimates that more than 60 percent of all medical lab tests performed in the state can be exchanged through its secure, state-of-the-art network.
“The nation’s leading medical labs and the hospital labs recognize that delivering patient results through a community-based electronic health information exchange not only helps improve patient care, but also helps keep the costs of technology low for providers,” says Larry Wolk, M.D., chief executive officer at CORHIO. “We appreciate these labs’ commitment to support the needs of both health care providers and patients in Colorado.”
