In January of 2023 DirectTrust and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) officially merged. DirectTrust is a non-profit healthcare industry alliance created to support secure, identity-verified electronic exchanges of protected health information. EHNAC is a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body for organizations that electronically exchange healthcare data.
Membership in DirectTrust continues to remain separate from accreditation. EHNAC Accredited Organizations that are not members of DirectTrust are invited to join DirectTrust membership; DirectTrust membership is not required for accreditation.
I caught up with both Scott Scott Stuewe, President and CEO of DirectTrust and Lee Barrett, now the Commission Executive Director for DirectTrust this past week at HIMSS in Chicago to talk about the merger and DirectTrust, post pandemic. Take a listen.
At HIMSS23 in Chicago, a conversation with Lee Barrett, Commission Executive Director. DirectTrust.
In January this year EHNAC merged with DirectTrust. Tell us about the merger and why it was good for the two organizations? What is your role now in the organization?
A question to Scott Stuewe CEO of DirectTrust.
I recently heard you say not to waste a good crisis when talking about the biggest challenges in workflow, interoperability and care coordination post pandemic. What are those challenges and how did the pandemic really bring them to light?
Celebrations are in order! Our CEO @StueweScott connected with DirectTrust’s new Commission Executive Director @LeeBarrettEHNAC to mark the merging of our organizations, which officially closed yesterday. We are looking forward to the future with our newly expanded team! pic.twitter.com/z0b29w8xWp
