The temporary ONC certification program for certifying EHRs is in full swing these days. The Certified HIT Product List (CHPL) is “the authority” on just who has got the right stuff. It also gives us an alternative view of just who are the serious vendors that are here to stay and play. No one should be surprised at the products on the list as we head to the end of the year. If you were paying attention this past year, they were the ones actually taking this direction seriously and spending there time and development money in getting their systems ready. So where are the missing products we all saw at HIMSS last year? Well maybe they should have spent a little less time and money fighting the system and more on developing their systems. Being on the train is really easier than running to get on. And it can’t get much worse if you get run over by it!
All three of the ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies(ATCBs) have now certified systems. Eligible Professionals and Hospitals will have to be using a “Certified” EHR system to attest to meaningful use and collect their incentive money. So what will the systems under the tree be this year? Here is a breakdown of just what is on the CHP List.
