From executive orders to behind-the-scenes directives, many of President Trump’s actions since taking office on Jan. 20 have taken aim at public health, endangering funding, research, programming, communications and more. Some of the measures have already taken effect, while others have been slowed or overturned through legal challenges. APHA is actively fighting through the courts, press and advocacy efforts to protect public health.
APHA has been part of successful litigation and action challenging some of the biggest threats to public health, including:
- APHA urges Senate committees to oppose RFK Jr. nomination to lead HHS
- Judge issues temporary restraining order in response to APHA complaint on OMB temporary spending freeze of federal grants
- APHA challenges legality of new Department of Government Efficiency
- APHA responds to Trump administration attempts to roll back America’s international health efforts and withdraw from WHO
- APHA urges lawmakers in the House to vote against legislation to stigmatize abortion providers outlined in H.R. 21/S.
