Who doesn’t like a good list? Weather you are on it, know someone on it, or aspire to be on it, you always want to read the list. Here are some interesting lists I think deserve sharing.
Smoking and Mortality – 21 Diseases Caused by Cigarette Smoking
Starting our list in awareness of February being Heart Month, there is still no good reason to smoke. Mortality among current smokers is 2 to 3 times as high as that among persons who never smoked. Most of this excess mortality is believed to be explained by 21 common diseases that have been formally established as caused by cigarette smoking and are included in official estimates of smoking-attributable mortality in the United States. However, if smoking causes additional diseases, these official estimates may significantly underestimate the number of deaths attributable to smoking.

GAO Releases 2015 High Risk List
Every 2 years at the start of a new Congress, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) releases its report listing various federal programs it deems “high risk” due to vulnerabilities related to fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement, or those in need of some form of transformation. The VA and DOD lack of EHR interoperability make the list.
