HHS Names New OCR Director
According to multiple news outlets, the Department of Health and Human Services (@HHSGov) has named Jocelyn Samuels the next director of the Office for Civil Rights. Samuels, who currently serves as the acting assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, will replace former HHS OCR director Leon Rodriguez.

New HIMSS North America Board Members Take Office
New members of the HIMSS (@HIMSS) North America Board of Directors begin their terms on July 1 each year. Now, as the new HIMSS North America Board Chair, Paul Kleeberg, MD, FAAFP, FHIMSS, leads this group of dedicated and experienced directors through June 30, 2015. Dr. Kleeberg is chief medical informatics officer for Stratis Health, a non-profit quality improvement organization in Bloomington, Minn. He is also clinical director for REACH, the Regional Extension Assistance Center for HIT, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to help small hospitals and primary care providers in Minnesota and North Dakota adopt and become meaningful users of electronic health records.

AHRQ Names Former CMS Policy Expert as Deputy Director
AHRQ Director Richard Kronick, Ph.D., has named Sharon Arnold, Ph.D., AHRQ’s new deputy director, effective June 29. In her new position, Dr. Arnold’s responsibilities include overseeing a comprehensive and coordinated scientific program supporting research, evaluations, demonstrations, training and policy analysis of health services research.

T-System Names Roger Davis CEO
T-System Inc. (@TSystem) announced that Roger Davis, formerly a managing director at Accenture, has been named the company’s new president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. Davis will help guide the company’s strategy as they further define new and emerging initiatives that will solve key challenges hospitals face. Davis has built an impressive record of success in a broad range of areas including healthcare system transformation, business process reengineering, performance enhancement, physician practice management, compliance and privacy and business development.

HealthTrust Names Kent Petty Chief Information Officer
HealthTrust (@HealthTrustpg), a Parallon affiliate, announced the appointment of Kent Petty as chief information officer (CIO). Petty most recently served as system vice president and CIO at Wellmont Health System where he developed and implemented a Health Information Technology strategic plan for the multifacility, multistate health system. Petty will report directly to Ed Jones, HealthTrust’s president and CEO.
