Health Catalyst @HealthCatalyst – Health Catalyst, provider of data warehousing, analytics and outcomes improvement, announced that it has acquired Health Care DataWorks (HCD), a provider of business intelligence for health systems. The cash-and-stock purchase closed on July 31. As part of the agreement, HCD’s health system customers have become Health Catalyst customers, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, El Camino Hospital, MemorialCare Health System, Orlando Health, and Tampa General Hospital. Additionally, Cedars-Sinai and MemorialCare have become investors in Health Catalyst, joining other Health Catalyst customer-investors Kaiser Permanente, Partners HealthCare, Allina Health, and Indiana University Health. Cerner Corporation @Cerner – Cerner Corp. is confident it can handle the mammoth task of upgrading the U.S. military’s medical records — and it already has a model system ready to go, says the company’s president, Zane Burke.“The Department of Defense (contract) is big and complex and hard, but it’s not new to Cerner to do big and complex and hard projects,” Burke said in an interview Tuesday.The interview marked the first time a Cerner executive had spoken publicly since the Pentagon announced last week that a team that included the North Kansas City-based health information technology company had won the multibillion-dollar contract to modernize the electronic health records of military personnel, retirees and their families. Spok, Inc @spoktweets – Spok announced that University Health System (UHS) in San Antonio, Texas, has selected its enterprise suite of communication solutions. The Spok® on-call scheduling, secure texting, critical test results management, and hospital call center solutions will allow the rapidly growing organization to increase staff efficiency and enhance secure communications. Premier, Inc.@PremierHA  – Premier, Inc. is acquiring a Pittsburgh-based health-care solutions provider for $400 million. Through the acquisition, CECity will become part of Charlotte-based Premier’s performance-services division. It will continue to operate out of its Pittsburgh headquarters for the foreseeable future. The privately held company has 134 employees. CECity specializes in cloud-based technology related to performance management and improvement, pay-for-value reporting and professional education.
