InstaMed (@InstaMed), a healthcare payments network, announced a $50 million investment from Carrick Capital Partners, an investment firm jointly based in Newport Beach and San Francisco, CA that focuses on technology-enabled businesses including SaaS, BPO and Transaction Processing. The investment will be used to drive the growth of the InstaMed Network, accelerate go-to-market strategy and drive further innovation in healthcare payments technology.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued 510(K) Class II clearance to a web client for the AirStrip ONE (@AirStripmHealth) mobile interoperability platform and application that can be run on desktops and laptops using Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Additionalyy, AirStrip also recently received a U.S. patent for new functionality: ECG waveform ‘visual calipers’ within AirStrip ONE that allow clinicians to make measurements on digital waveforms, combine measurements, create waveform snippets and append documentation.

RelateCare (@relatecare) began as a joint venture between the Cleveland Clinic and Ireland-based Rigneydolphin in 2013 and now expects more than 100 jobs to be created over the next 18 months as a result of this milestone expansion. The new Patient Coordination Center is due to open in October 2016 and will be an addition to RelateCare’s existing network of offices which are based in Waterford, Ireland, Cleveland, and Boston. Working with RelateCare enables healthcare providers to communicate directly with their patients using the latest multi-channel technological solutions across multiple time zones.

Aprima Medical Software (@AprimaMedEHR) announced that the company made tremendous progress in achieving its financial, product and client satisfaction goals during the first half of 2016. Highlights include strong revenue and sales growth, new products, and high client satisfaction.

HCA (@hcahealthcare), which operates 169 hospitals and 116 freestanding surgery centers in 20 states and the United Kingdom, announced the signing of an agreement to purchase Mobile Heartbeat (@mobileheartbeat), a developer of applications for smartphones to improve clinical workflow and team communications. Mobile Heartbeat technology solutions consolidate clinical communications, including alarms and notifications, patient information and lab data, secure texting, voice and photography.

Apigee (@Apigee), the API company, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement under which Google will acquire Apigee for $17.40 per share in cash, for a total value of approximately $625 million. The transaction is subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including Apigee stockholder approval and applicable regulatory approvals. The companies expect the transaction to close by the end of 2016.

Atos (@Atos), provider of digital services, announces having signed a share purchase agreement to acquire Anthelio Healthcare Solutions (@Anthelio), an independent provider of healthcare technology solutions in North America, for an enterprise value of US$275 million. This acquisition, fully financed by cash, uniquely positions Atos to reach a broader customer base in the U.S. healthcare market by strengthening the scale and scope of its services. The combined organization will support Atos customer’s need to better optimize financial performance, improve the patient care experience, engage patients through state-of-the-art applications and address the increasing demands of security, risk and compliance.

Carilion Clinic (@CarilionClinic) will leverage PeraHealth’s predictive analytics to help identify patients who may be at risk for serious health issues. PeraHealth’s suite of clinical surveillance solutions, powered by the Rothman Index, will be integrated into the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. One of the largest hospitals in Virginia, CRMH is a 703–bed hospital with an additional 60-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a Level 1 trauma center. CRMH was named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2015-16 Most Connected Hospitals list for using technology to improve patient safety.

eHealth Technologies (@ehealthtec), a provider of clinically informed referral solutions, announced that University of Virginia Health System has expanded the eHealth Connect Intelligent Health Record Aggregation platform services to help deliver timely clinically-organized out-of-network patient records for the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center.

Henry Schein Medical Systems, Inc. (@henryschein), developers of MicroMD Practice Management and Electronic Health Records and a subsidiary of Henry Schein, Inc., announced its relationship with Forerun, Inc., to sell, implement and support a Software-as-a-Service-based charting solution. The solution, exclusively distributed by Henry Schein as of October 2016, will help clinicians improve workflow efficiencies as a result of accelerating the administrative documentation of a patient’s visit.
