As the health IT industry prepares for the year’s biggest conference, PR companies and marketing staff are scrambling for that last bit of HIMSS14 limelight before the event kicks off this weekend.

With more than 40,000 healthcare professionals preparing to kick off the world’s largest healthcare technology exhibition in Orlando, FL next week, Extreme Networks (Nasdaq: EXTR) announced it has been selected as the new network provider for the HIMSS Intelligent Hospital Pavilion, the technology centerpiece of the event. Ed Park, athenahealth’s executive vice president and chief operating officer,  will deliver an address at the 2014 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition  (HIMSS14), taking place February 23-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in  Orlando, Florida. The HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition is the industry’s  largest health IT educational program and exhibition center. In his presentation, entitled “What Health Care Can Learn from Amazon,” Park  will tease out how the open system architecture and customer-centric mentality  that has helped to make Amazon a marvel of consumer engineering can also help to  usher in an unrivalled service experience in health care.

CCHIT is launching its first Summit, “The Decade of Health IT”, on February 26, 2014 at the HIMSS14 Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla. This discussion with newly appointed National Coordinator, Dr. Karen DeSalvo, and past National Coordinators Dr. David Brailer, Dr. Robert Kolodner, and Dr. Farzad Mostashari, will offer a critical look back at the last decade of health IT progress, with an opportunity for Summit participants to provide input on the desired role of health IT in the decade to come. Comcast Business announced it will host a customer panel during HIMSS 2014 (February 23 — 27, Orlando, Florida).
