Mass. Home Healthcare Providers Honored for Using Mass HIway to Boost “Cross Continuum Collaboration”
Seven participants in the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech’s (@MassEHealth) HIway Implementation Grant program have been chosen as award recipients by the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts (HCAM) for success in “Cross Continuum Collaboration.” The seven organizations were nominated for their ongoing use of innovative Health IT and the Mass HIway, the state’s health information exchange, to improve home healthcare across Massachusetts. The organizations were honored at HCAM’s “Innovations Showcase & Star Awards” ceremony, which will took place, Tuesday, April 29th, at the JFK Library in Boston. Read press release.
NC HIE Upgrades NC DIRECT Secure Messaging Capabilities, Expanding Provider Reach
The North Carolina Health Information Exchange (NC HIE) has upgraded its NC DIRECT functionality in order to enable participants to securely communicate with a larger number of healthcare providers state- and nationwide who are part of the national DirectTrust Transitional Trust Community Bundle. This national community of trusted users follow a common set of policies related to health information exchange using direct secure messaging including certificate management policies and HIPAA compliance processes. Dallas Provider Gets Grant to Build Area HIE
The Parkland Health and Hospital System (@ParklandHealth), a large public health system based in Dallas, and its affiliated foundation and Center for Clinical Innovation, have accepted a $12 million grant to build a health information exchange (HIE) portal, the provider announced. The exchange portal will aim to connect various clinical systems inside and outside the enterprise. The goal is to have data be moved between hospitals, clinics, homeless shelters, food aid organizations and other social assistance agencies, Parkland said in a press release. There will also be artificial intelligence features that was use advanced algorithms and analytics, which will interpret medical information and social risk factors for predictive purposes. Final State Budget Funds New York’s Electronic Health Records System, the SHIN-NY
Earlier this month, the New York State Legislature voted to support New York’s electronic health records system—known as the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (the SHIN-NY). The final New York State Fiscal Year 2014-15 Budget includes $55M in State funding for the SHIN-NY (@NYeHealth), which will go towards building an innovative, public network in New York designed to give doctors and patients instant access to their complete health records, anywhere and anytime. New York has been at the forefront of health innovation and will now be the first large state in the country to build a public network of interconnected electronic health records of this kind.
