21st Century Cures Act Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement Meeting 2 – Webinar Only
The ONC (@ONC_HealthIT) will host the second in a series of meetings and webinars to inform our work in support of the 21st Century Cures Act trusted exchange framework and common agreement provisions outlined in Section 4003 of the law. ONC looks forward to working with stakeholders on implementation of this Cures provision—an integral component of the nationwide network-to-network exchange of health data and a critical part of ONC’s charge to support nationwide interoperability. Direct and FHIR: Can They Work Hand-in-Hand?
The DirectTrust (@DirectTrustorg) has released a white paper that proposes how FHIR and Direct communities and technical specifications for each standard should relate to each other to offer new value. FHIR is a standards framework created by HL7, an American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited SDO (standards developing organization) in the healthcare arena. Meanwhile, DirectTrust is a healthcare industry alliance created by and for participants in the Direct exchange network used for secure, interoperable exchange of personal health information between provider organizations, and between provider and patients.
ONC Head Dr. Donald Rucker Addresses Interoperability and Burden of Usability During WEDI Summer Forum Keynote
Earlier this month, WEDI (@WEDIonline) held its 2017 Summer Forum which featured keynote addresses by Donald W. Rucker, MD, head of the ONC/HHS and Madhu Annadata, director, Division of National Standards, CMS. Speaking before a gathering of provider, payer, vendor and government sector decision-makers in Chicago, Dr. Rucker and Annadata highlighted a successful two days of high-level discussions focused not just on the burdens prior authorization and other transaction policies pose, but, more importantly, potential solutions the industry can implement to address these hurdles. CommonWell Health Alliance (@CommonWell) continues to grow and expand their diverse group of members. With the addition of these newest six members, CommonWell now has almost 70 members representing more than 20 settings of care. These newest members range from data sharing networks and systems integrators to identity platforms and industry associations, serving patients and caregivers across the care continuum. Personal Connected Health Alliance Enhances Continua Test Tool, Enabling Authentic, Clinical-Grade Interoperability
The Personal Connected Health Alliance (@PCHAlliance) announced it has approved a new Continua Test Tool (CTT), adding in several new enhancements based on its Continua Design Guidelines. The Continua Design Guidelines and the new CTT continues to scale enabling authentic clinical-grade interoperability and now includes chronic disease remote monitoring for diabetes care, hypertension, heart failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The Continua Test Tool helps PCHAlliance members achieve Continua Certification for their products ensuring that their data is clearly understood within an EHR.

StayWell Adds SMART on FHIR® to Krames On-Demand® to Increase EHR Integration Capabilities, Interoperability
The StayWell Company (@StayWellTweets) announced that it has embraced the HL7® FHIR standards for the new Krames On-Demand patient education digital application, delivering patient education tools and information to health care providers and health care systems. The addition of SMART on FHIR to Krames On-Demand will make it easier for health systems to integrate Krames patient education materials into their clinical workflows with suggested individualized education for each patient. This enhanced delivery option, known as Krames On FHIR, will be available to hospitals and health systems for integration within certain electronic health records, or EHRs, beginning in August.
