HIT Policy and HIT Standards Committees hold Meetings

This week brings us more from the Office of National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT).

The HIT Policy Committee will close the public comment period for their draft recommendations on meaningful use on 6/26/09 at 5pm. You can still comment via electronic responses to MeaningfulUse@hhs.gov  with the subject line “Meaningful Use”. Comments should be no more than 2000 words.

The HIT Standards Committee will hold their second meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 9am (ET). You can participate via audio or webconference. The Standards Committee is charged with making recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (HIT) on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information. Initially, the HIT Standards Committee will focus on the policies developed by the Health IT Policy Committee’s initial eight areas.

Look for the blogs to be consumed with the debate in congress over health care reform.
