For the last several years now we’ve been hosting a virtual panel discussion on various topics about once a quarter. We’ve tacked Interoperability, value-based care, meaningful use (back in the day) and cybersecurity.
On October 1st we turn our attention to telemedicine. The evolving role of telemedicine has brought a quartet of industry leaders to the virtual table to discuss the driving factors behind the increase in demand including legislation and reimbursement policies such as the Medicare Telehealth Policies, and the 21st Century Cures Act, as well as consumer demand and need to reduce healthcare costs. Telemedicine also plays a role in the industry’s move to full Interoperability.
Our virtual panel will be moderated by healthcare attorney, Matt Fisher, who also hosts Healthcare de Jure on our HealthcareNOW Radio station. Matt has even interviewed 2 of our 3 distinguished panelists below.
- Leslie Krigstein, VP Congressional Affairs for CHIME
- Tom Leary, VP Government Relations for HIMSS
- Dr. Dean Smith, CMIO for GlobalMed
When: Tuesday, October 1, 2019
Time: 1:00 – 2:15 pm ET
About the Event
Telemedicine is increasingly playing a bigger part in virtual care delivery, driven by both sides of the care equation: providers are looking for ways to reduce work load and burnout, manage capacity, and find new revenue streams. Patients are demanding care alternatives and better accessibility to specialists, especially younger, digitally savvy consumers and those traveling long distances for care. Telemedicine technology is evolving to be data-driven and evidence-based in support of industry interoperability initiatives. It’s enabling providers to treat patients anytime, anywhere outside the traditional health delivery system. It’s also making contributions to closing care gaps in chronic disease management and reducing no-shows, readmits, and healthcare costs.
As telemedicine evolves and demand increases, ongoing legislation to improve virtual care technology adoption and improve reimbursement are rapidly unfolding. Keeping up with the changes and dispelling the myths from the realities is a full-time effort. Join our all-star line-up of presenters for this informative virtual panel discussion that will help you make sense of the current telemedicine landscape, offer valuable virtual care delivery insights, and consider best practices for telemedicine adoption and stakeholder buy-in. The panel will also forecast where telemedicine is headed in the coming year.
Topics for discussion include:
- The evolution of virtual healthcare
- How legislation and reimbursement policies Medicare Telehealth Policies, 21st Century Cures Act and others are evolving.
- FCC efforts to increase connected care technologies in rural communities
- How state laws and licensure is impeding progress for expanding telemedicine and remote patient monitoring
- What the future looks like for the next 1-2 years
