Spotlight on State Exchange: HealthInfoNet
HealthInfoNet is a Maine-based, independent, nonprofit organization using health information technology to improve and transform health care quality and safety. HealthInfoNet was incorporated in 2006 and is governed by a board of directors and several committees run by Maine people serving on behalf of doctors, hospitals, public health, patients, and groups representing various consumer interests. The organization provides services across the State of Maine, and maintains administrative offices in Portland.
Maine is one of the first states to achieve full connectivity between hospitals utilizing technology to support interoperable health information exchange. All of the acute care hospitals in the state are now under contract to connect to a network that will enable standards-based and secure information sharing. In addition to Maine’s hospitals, HealthInfoNet is connected to 376 ambulatory provider sites including primary and specialty care practices, federally qualified health centers, mental health agencies, home health and long-term care providers.

Latest News – HBI Solutions announced that HealthInfoNet, Maine’s statewide health information exchange (HIE), one of the nation’s leading and most advanced statewide HIEs, will implement HBI’s Spotlight Data Platform and Analytic solutions. These tools will help HealthInfoNet and the providers it serves to leverage its comprehensive clinical data repository to better understand healthcare delivery and outcomes improvement opportunities for Maine patients. HealthInfoNet will be able to conduct market share, clinical performance, population management and predictive outcomes analyses using HBI’s healthcare data model, advanced analytic modules, and patient risk models.
