MGMA12 Keynote Speakers
Our countdown to MGMA12 continues with a look at general session speakers. The convention will be held in San Antonio, Texas October 21 – 24, drawing thousands to the city’s famed Riverwalk. You can follow updates on the convention site or at Twitter hashtag #mgma12.
You can get an early bird discount and save $200 if you register by September 21st. Convention hotel rates also expire on that same date so book ahead.

Sunday, October 21
The Art of Vision: Discovering Success in a Changing Healthcare Environment
National speaker, artist and lecturer Erik Wahl kicks off the MGMA general session line up talking about the process for achieving greater levels of performance. The session will look at how to spot emerging trends and embrace change, how to create a lasting vision for your organization and how to define elements of a culture based on commitment and empowerment.

The State of the Healthcare Industry – Panel Discussion
Day two of the conference provides an all star line up of industry leaders discussing the evolution and future of the industry. The session panelists will focus on the issues influencing healthcare reform, what a change in administration would mean to reform and how aligning incentives is central to improving healthcare.

Healthy Organizations Win: How to Harness Your Organization’s Maximum Potential
Day three brings best selling author Patrick Lencioni to the convention to make the case that, despite challenging market conditions, organizational health “will surpass all other disciplines in business as the greatest opportunity for improvement and competitive advantage.” His session will focus on developing a culture of teamwork and trust, fostering productive conflict and peer accountability, and creating clarity and alignment within an organization.

Big Ideas Mean Taking Big Risks
On day four Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, pediatric neurosurgeon for Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, will be on hand to lead a session on why changing your approach to healthcare delivery requires taking risks. The session will address why risk taking yields results, how to logically analyze problems that may require taking risks to solve, and how knowledge, honesty and insight fit in to problem solving.

What’s so Funny About Practice Management?
The last day’s general session has David Glickman, President of Healthcare Humor, on board to give a “full-blown, high-energy, one-man show” on finding the humor in the stressful environment of practice management. The session will help attendees learn how to think like a humorist and use humor to alleviate stressful situations.
