WEDI’s ICD-10 Survey to measure progress towards 2014 compliance date
The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) is a non-profit organization established in 1991 by Health and Human Services (HHS). WEDI’s mission is to improve the use of health information technology to “enhance the quality of care, improve efficiency and to reduce costs of the American healthcare system.” The organization announced today the release of an online survey specifically tailored to measure ICD-10 implementation progress as the industry marches to an October 1, 2014 compliance date.
The results of the online survey will be used by both WEDI and CMS to “evaluate challenges and identify areas in need of additional education and assistance.” The survey will be looking for feedback from providers, vendors, clearinghouses, and health plans. You can Take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WEDISurveyICD-10.
Participation in the survey will be made available through Wednesday, February 20, 2013. “It is important to closely track industry progress in order to identify areas where additional focus may be needed,” said Jim Daley, WEDI Chairman and WEDI ICD-10 Workgroup Co-Chair. “ICD-10 is a large complex implementation and any issues must be quickly identified and addressed in order to meet the compliance date.”
This is the first in a series of planned surveys by WEDI to gain industry feedback on the October, 2014 ICD-10 implementation deadline. Learn more about the survey at the WEDI website.
On a side note, WEDI is also offering an upcoming virtual event for both members and non-members on the HIPAA Omnibus rule.
Desecription: The Long Awaited HIPAA/HITECH Omnibus Rule is out! The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently released the final rule updating the privacy and security rules under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The changes expand many of the requirements to business associates of the entities that receive protected health information and strengthen the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Breach Notification requirements.
