ANA Urges OSHA to Renew ETS Standard Providing Nurses Critical Protections from COVID-19
On December 21, 2021, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) protecting nurses and other health care personnel from COVID-19 will expire. This ETS, issued months prior to the Administration’s vaccine mandate, set clear and enforceable requirements for COVID-19 prevention in hospitals, home health, community clinics, and other health care delivery sites. The American Nurses Association (ANA) is urging OSHA to act quickly to renew this ETS, which has provided critical protections for nurses and other health care workers who remain on the frontlines of this persistent pandemic. Suicide Prevention in Nursing Model Designated as American Academy of Nursing Edge Runner Innovative Program Focused on Critical Mental Health Intervention & Service
The American Academy of Nursing (Academy) recognizes the Suicide Prevention in Nursing: Breaking the Silence model as an Academy Edge Runner. The Suicide Prevention in Nursing model was developed by an interprofessional team inspired by the first national longitudinal study of U.S nurse suicide led by Judy E. Davidson, DNP, RN, MCCM, FAAN, Nurse Scientist at the University of California, San Diego Health Sciences (UC San Diego Health). Edge Runners are nurse-designed, innovative models of care or interventions with significant, demonstrated outcomes to improve health, impact cost, and influence policy.
