Obama Speaks on Health Care Reform
“Make no mistake: the cost of our health care is a threat to our economy. It is an escalating burden on our families and businesses. It is a ticking time-bomb for the federal budget. And it is unsustainable for the United States of America.” Said President Obama last Monday at the AMA’s annual meeting in Chicago promoting his health reform agenda. And he did not back down on his defense of a public health insurance option. He brought cheers and boos in a single topic when he discussed a medical malpractice system that needed change, but was not willing to go as far as capping awards. He dreams of a payment system that rewards quality of care not quantity of care. Outlining the long history of failure in health care reform, he believes it is a new day and time that can bring success to the story.
There was no lack of reactions or comments on what he said. And here, keeping true to our independent voice we thought we would direct you to all the chatter from this week’s blogs and news on the speech.
