The HIT Policy Committee won’t be meeting next month but had a day and a half extravaganza last week on the 27th and 28th. Blumenthal opened the meeting with information on future topics and new and continuing workgroups for both the Advisory Committees. You can view the high level plan for priority topics in his presentation.
But the bulk of the meeting centered on Paul Tang and his workgroup’s hearing on how the recommended meaningful use measures will effect specialists, non-physician practitioners, safety net providers, small physician practices, and community hospitals. The four moderated panels did their parts in detailing that one size does not fit all. You can read all the testimonies and get panel member information at the committee page.
The committee will decide which of the 25 MU measures should apply to specialists so they qualify for 2011 incentive payments. They will also identify the requirements to delay introducing until 2013 and 2015. Stay tuned for how the hearing revises the meaningful use discussion.
