ONC Video Challenge to Engage Patients in Technology
ONC announces an open call for entries in the Healthy New Year Video Challenge. If you have a personal story of patients or families using health information technology to improve health and a video camera, this is for you. This is the first in a series of consumer video contests set for various times in 2012. The ONC is hoping to engage consumers in integrating technology with their health care.
ONC Farzad Mostashari, a leading champion of consumer health IT involvement and empowering individuals, is out in front on this project too. “We are excited to harness the creativity of ordinary Americans to help promote the positive impact of the myriad health information technology tools and services on health and health care.”
The kick off challenge is taking submissions through February 16th. All videos must meet eligibility criteria. Winning entries will be selected from both a judges panel and public voting. Judging will take place through March 8th while public voting has begun and will continue through March 8th. Winners will be announced on March 15th. There will be seven awards splitting a $5000 purse with the winner taking home $2000. The winning videos will also be featured on the ONC HealthIT.gov site as a campaign to inspire people to engage in health information technology to improve their health care.
