Conference Accepting Abstracts to Discuss Future of EHR Development
The Open Source Electronic Health Records Agent (OSEHRA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating innovation in electronic health record software, announces that registration is open for its 2nd Annual Open Source EHR Summit & Workshop. OSEHRA’s goal is to drive rapid innovation in electronic health records and health IT through an Open Source software process involving the community of software developers, clinicians, business leaders and other practitioners. The Open Source electronic health record (EHR) enterprise is gaining tremendous momentum in the private and public sectors; and the number of private company contributors participating in the Open Source EHR endeavor is growing steadily. Additionally, the topics of EHRs and Open Source are currently being hotly debated at all levels of the government. The Summit will be held September 4-6, 2013 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in North Bethesda, MD. Early registration is open until July 7.
The Summit will feature more than 35 eminent panelists and speakers, including government officials, health care leaders, clinical care providers and policymakers. Featured participants to date include Andrew Aitken, Founder and Managing Partner, Olliance Group, General (Ret) Charles Green, M.D., and David Wheeler, Institute for Defense Analysis. The event will bring together the OSEHRA community, now totaling more than 2,300 members, and provide a venue for Open Source Health IT training and educational workshops.
“We look forward to expanding our discussion on Open Source EHR platforms and continuing to foster the development of the most innovative EHR practices that truly showcase the power of Open Source developers, clinicians and policy makers,” said Seong Ki Mun, PhD, President and CEO of OSEHRA. “This community continues to grow and support rapid innovation in health IT and we believe coming together at the Summit this fall will be the logical next step in our health IT discussions.”
