According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (@AHRQNews) “Patient experience encompasses the range of interactions that patients have with the health care system, including their care from health plans, and from doctors, nurses, and staff in hospitals, physician practices, and other health care facilities.” How can understanding patient experience improve and advance patient-centered care? What aspects of health care delivery fall under the umbrella of patient experience? We will explore answers to these questions and all of the ins and outs of patient experience in this series.

SCOOPs Program Improves Patient Experience, Reduces Costs
The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center introduced a new program, Supportive Care of Oncology Patients (SCOOPs), designed to improve the patient experience and reduce societal costs by introducing supportive care management and enhanced electronic aids to nurse navigation. The results of the program were presented at the 2018 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Quality Care Symposium.

OST Launches CareCircle
A Grand Rapids business is picking up where CarePages, the now defunct website where patients provided health updates to friends and family, has left off. OST (@OSTgr), a business technology and IT consulting firm, launched CareCircle earlier this month, a website modeled after CarePages that gives hospital patients the ability to share updates on a secure website rather than social medial platforms like Facebook.

Latest perk for tech companies: doctor visits at work
These days tech companies like San Francisco fitness app maker Strava (@Strava), are not only providing in-office meals for their employees, but they’re also bringing in doctors — so nobody has to leave work to get examined. The San Francisco Chronicle reports on Strava’s recent in office appointments, booked through a Santa Monica startup called Heal (@healapp).
