Keith Hepp, CFO & Sr. VP of Bus. Development of The Health Collaborative (Cincinnati, OH) will serve as Board Chair of the national collaborative of health information exchanges
The Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC) (@SHIEClive) has announced new Board leadership. Keith Hepp, CFO & Senior VP of Business Development of The Health Collaborative in Cincinnati, Ohio will serve as Board Chair, replacing Dan Porreca, Executive Director of HEALTHeLINK of Western NY who steps down after serving as Board Chair for the past two years.
Other Board officers include: Melissa Kotrys, CEO of Health Current (Phoenix, AZ) who will serve as Vice-Chair; Angie Bass, President & CEO of Missouri Health Connection (Columbia, MO) who will serve as Board Secretary; and Leigh Sterling, Executive Director of the East Tennessee Health Information Network (Knoxville, TN), will serve as Board Treasurer. Leigh Sterling will also chair the SHIEC Finance Committee.
Keith Hepp will chair the Board of an organization that is growing in size, service and influence nationally. “I’ve been in a fortunate position over the years to see the growth and success of the HIE sector not only in the Greater Cincinnati region, but nationally through SHEIC,” Hepp remarked. “I look forward to now chairing the board of SHIEC during a time when its members’ achievements in healthcare, technology, and policy are so fundamental to the national conversation.”
Kelly Hoover Thompson, CEO of SHIEC, expressed appreciation for the leadership of immediate past chair, Dan Porreca. “Dan has chaired the board through a period a rapid growth and change. During that time, our organization has nearly doubled in size and SHIEC HIEs have significantly increased the secure sharing of patient information in their communities and across the nation,” Thompson said.
SHIEC also announced the election of Board members. The SHIEC Board is comprised of 12 members who each serve 3-year staggered terms. Jaime Bland, CEO of Nebraska Health Information Initiative (Omaha, NE), was elected to the Board, and three Board members were re-elected: Doug Dietzman, Executive Director of Great Lakes Health Connect (Grand Rapids, MI); Melissa Kotrys, CEO of Health Current (Phoenix, AZ); and Dan Porreca. Executive Director of HEALTHeLINK (Buffalo, NY).
Thompson also expressed appreciation for the Board service of John Kansky, President and CEO of Indiana Health Information Exchange, who stepped down from the Board. “John was a founding Board member of SHIEC and has been an outstanding leader not only for SHIEC but for health information exchange and health IT nationally,” Thompson said.
