StartUp Health Initiative
Any Good Ideas Out There?
For those of us involved in healthcare how often have we said, “I know a better way to do that.”? As we encounter the challenges and opportunities related to the massive rollout of EHR adoption the potential ideas that outline new or better ways to accomplish things blossom like coffee beans on the Kona Coast.
Most of these brainstorms die on the vine. If only we had someone to help us nurture the sprouts of our imagination. Maybe it is an issue of funding, or access to technical resources, or maybe just the boost of someone credible affirming our idea and also seeing the promise it holds. What we need is some type of incubator to guard, nourish, and support these fledgling ideas that could eventually provide significant vitality to the future of potential healthcare access, delivery, and economy. Such an incubator now exists and I’m hoping the fruit of its efforts will be bountiful.
Point your browser to Startup Health and check it out. They have a lofty mission: “StartUp Health is an initiative to inspire, educate, and provide resources for entrepreneurs to build sustainable health and wellness companies. StartUp Health aims to close the ‘Health Gap’ between entrepreneurs, private investors, corporations, universities, foundations and other stakeholders committed to accelerating meaningful health and wellness innovation.”
You will be impressed by who is behind this initiative as outlined in this June 9th press release. The road is littered with organizations that have tried to create such a cauldron to help bring creative solutions to healthcare. I’m hoping this one will make it and I’m submitting an idea or two of my own.
