The Hawai`i Health Information Exchange (Hawai`i HIE)

The Hawai‘i HIE is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 2006 to enhance care coordination, to improve the health outcomes of Hawai‘i’s patients and reduce the cost of care for both patients and healthcare providers. To support these goals, in September 2009, Hawai‘i HIE was designated by the state to develop a seamless, effective, and secure statewide health information exchange that ultimately links to the nationwide health information network. Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange is a robust, interoperable data exchange system that enables all health care providers, health plans, clinics, and hospitals to contribute and access complete health information with confidence. This secure exchange empowers participants to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of whole-person care, enhancing health outcomes for patients and reducing health care costs for the community.

Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange celebrates 15th anniversary with a track record of success – Honolulu, Hawaii—The Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange celebrates its 15th anniversary this year with an array of accomplishments.

Connecticut – CTHealthLink

CTHealthLink (@CTHealthLink) is a physician-led health information network delivered in partnership with the Connecticut State Medical Society (CSMS) offering a suite of health information technology tools to help health professionals across the state of Connecticut CONNECT. ANALYZE. ENGAGE. and TRANSFORM. the healthcare industry.

UConn and CTHealthLink Team to Advance Health Care Analytics – CTHealthLink, the Connecticut State Medical Society’s (CSMS) robust health information exchange (HIE), announced that it has executed a teaming agreement to explore opportunities to incorporate technologies developed by the UConn School of Nursing’s Analytics and Information Management Solutions (AIMS).

Arizona – Health Current

Health Current (@AZHealthCurrent), is a partner that gives providers the information they need to make better clinical decisions and keep people healthy. The HIE believes more complete information is more meaningful. It makes healthcare transformation possible. And Health Current is central to this progress, integrating information technology and care delivery to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Health Current Selects Care Directives to Power the New Arizona Healthcare Directives Registry – Health Current announced the selection of Care Directives as its vendor of choice to develop the new Arizona Healthcare Directives Registry (AzHDR). The AzHDR is designed to help honor patients’ end-of-life healthcare wishes by providing seamless access to advance directives across the continuum of care.

Maine – HealthInfoNet

HealthInfoNet (@hinfonet) is a Maine-based, independent nonprofit designated by the State of Maine to operate Maine’s statewide health information exchange. The HIE links medical information from separate health care sites to create a single electronic patient health record. This record is accessible to a patient’s authorized health care providers to support treatment. HealthInfoNet provides a secure, standardized electronic system where health care providers can share important patient information, giving them the tools they need to make more informed treatment decisions, especially in an emergency.

Health Share Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania (HSX)

PA-HSX-200HealthShare Exchange (@HealthShareExch) is the greater Philadelphia region’s health information exchange for the five-county Southeastern Pennsylvania region. HSX is a unique, membership-dues-supported nonprofit formed by the Delaware Valley’s hospitals/health systems and healthcare insurers that links the electronic medical record systems of different hospital health systems, medical centers, and clinics — and the claims data of healthcare insurers — to make this information accessible at inpatient and outpatient points of care, including medical practice offices.

Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network (WISHIN)

wi-shin-twitterIn October 2010 Wisconsin officially announced its intention to designate WISHIN (@WISHIN_Pulse), a not-for-profit organization formed by the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality, and Wisconsin Health Information Organization, as the State-designated entity to govern statewide HIE. DE on October 25, 2010. WISHIN is responsible for implementing Wisconsin’s Strategic and Operational Plan. The plan requires multi-stakeholder collaboration and emphasizes ongoing development of government and policy structures.

Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN)

DHIN-twitterDelaware Health Information Network’s (@DHIN_HIE) roots reach back to 1997 when the Delaware General Assembly enacted the organization as a public/private partnership. The objective was, and remains today, to advance the creation of a statewide health information network that addresses the state’s needs for timely, reliable and relevant health care information. In 2007, DHIN “went live” – meaning it became the first operational statewide health information exchange in the nation.

Delaware Health Information Network Announces HITRUST CSF® Certification – With cyber threats and organized targeting of healthcare data on the rise across the nation, Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN) reaffirms its commitment to privacy and data security by earning HITRUST CSF Certified status for its results delivery infrastructure.

New York -Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY)

NY-SHINY-200The SHIN-NY is the only HIE that provides universal access regardless of network or EHR system. New York State has made a significant investment in the SHIN-NY and in 2016 they set a goal of connecting 100% of the PPS across the state to the SHIN-NY. The eight RHIOs that make up the SHIN-NY are working directly with the PPS organizations to meet their needs.

HealtheConnections (@_myhec) and Nuvance Health Expand HIE Services through Radiology Image Exchange Connection – As part of an ongoing partnership, radiology imaging exams and reports from Nuvance Health, a nonprofit health system in New York State and Connecticut, are now accessible through HealtheConnections’ health information exchange (HIE).

Aigilx Health and Nextgate Partner to Support HIEs with Next Generation Identity Matching and Community-Wide Interoperability – The partnership between NextGate and Aigilx Health already supports Rochester RHIO (@RochesterRHIO), a regional HIE serving 14 counties and 1.5 million residents in New York State. It is the first HIE to utilize the Meridian DAPsolution.

Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN)

The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (@MiHIN) is Michigan’s initiative to continuously improve health care quality, efficiency, and patient safety by promoting secure, electronic exchange of health information through the MiHIN Health Information Services Cloud (HISC). MiHIN represents a growing network of public and private organizations working to overcome data sharing barriers, reduce costs, and ultimately advance the health of Michigan’s population.

MiHIN’s New Conformance Module In MIGateway – Conformance standards are designed to continually improve the data that flows through the Michigan Health Information Network, ensuring it is complete and actionable when it’s received by the practitioners using the information.

Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE)

IHIE-200Indiana Health Information Exchange (@IndianaHIE) operates the nation’s largest health information exchange, providing a secure, robust and interoperable health information technology network that connects over 150 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers.

Parkview Health Signs With Indiana’s HIE, Expanding the Data Reach for Public Health- IHIE is excited to announce that Parkview Health, a northeast Indiana health system with 12 hospitals, is now contributing data to the state HIE. Parkview is based in Fort Wayne, IN, and its participation in the HIE adds significantly to the data/information available statewide to support patient care, population health, and public health.

The SHIEC HIE community and other health IT, public health, and healthcare colleagues will convene at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona on August 15 – 18, 2021 for education, sharing, and networking. The theme this year is The Role of Health Information Exchange: Innovation in Public Health, Partnerships, and Pandemic Response. The 7th annual conference will be co-hosted by Arizona’s own Health Current and Colorado Regional Health Information Organization (CORHIO). SHIEC is working on a hybrid conference approach this year (a combination of in-person and virtual attendance), and as the SHIEC Events Committee prepares for SHIEC21, we will continue to monitor the national and local progress in responding to the COVID pandemic and the vaccine rollout.
