Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE)
Indiana Health Information Exchange (@IndianaHIE) operates the nation’s largest health information exchange, providing a secure, robust and interoperable health information technology network that connects over 150 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers.
Indiana HIE’S Chuck Christian Wins CHIME Policy Leadership Award – Charles (Chuck) Christian, a longtime advocate for applying health IT to improve patient care, has been named the winner of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) 2017 Federal Public Policy Award for CIO Leadership. The honor was announced this week to coincide with National Health IT Week.
Maine – HealthInfoNet
HealthInfoNet (@hinfonet) is a Maine-based, independent nonprofit designated by the State of Maine to operate Maine’s statewide health information exchange. The HIE links medical information from separate health care sites to create a single electronic patient health record. This record is accessible to a patient’s authorized health care providers to support treatment. HealthInfoNet provides a secure, standardized electronic system where health care providers can share important patient information, giving them the tools they need to make more informed treatment decisions, especially in an emergency.
Orion Health Profiles HealthInfoNet – In recognition of National Health IT Week, Orion Health published a case study highlighting the successful collaboration between HealthInfoNet and Orion Health.
HealthInfoNet Board of Directors Announces Leadership Transition – HealthInfoNet’s Board of Directors is announcing that after 11 years of distinguished leadership, Devore Culver is retiring from his position as CEO on October 31, 2017. He will continue to work for HealthInfoNet as a Senior Consultant. Shaun Alfreds has been named Acting Chief Executive Officer. Shaun has served as HealthInfoNet’s Chief Operating Officer since 2010 and his vast operational HIE and development experience will assure a smooth transition.

Arizona – Health Current
Health Current (@AZHealthCurrent), is a partner that gives providers the information they need to make better clinical decisions and keep people healthy. The HIE believes more complete information is more meaningful. It makes healthcare transformation possible. And Health Current is central to this progress, integrating information technology and care delivery to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
Arizona and California health information exchanges connect networks – The health information exchanges in Arizona, San Diego and Santa Cruz, Calif. have connected networks to allow patient information to follow them when patients receive healthcare while traveling. These connections are an extension of the Patient Centered Data Home initiative that was piloted in 2016 by three western HIEs through the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative, the national trade association of HIEs.
Health Share Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania (HSX)
HealthShare Exchange (@HealthShareExch) is the greater Philadelphia region’s health information exchange for the five-county Southeastern Pennsylvania region. HSX is a unique, membership-dues-supported nonprofit formed by the Delaware Valley’s hospitals/health systems and healthcare insurers that links the electronic medical record systems of different hospital health systems, medical centers, and clinics — and the claims data of healthcare insurers — to make this information accessible at inpatient and outpatient points of care, including medical practice offices.

HSX hosts Health Information Exchange in Post-Acute Care Event – Post-acute care professionals and stakeholders are invited to sign up for HSX’s event on benefits of HIE to PAC. Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network (WISHIN)
In October 2010 Wisconsin officially announced its intention to designate WISHIN (@WISHIN_Pulse), a not-for-profit organization formed by the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality, and Wisconsin Health Information Organization, as the State-designated entity to govern statewide HIE. WISHIN is responsible for implementing Wisconsin’s Strategic and Operational Plan. The plan requires multi-stakeholder collaboration and emphasizes ongoing development of government and policy structures.

Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN)
Delaware Health Information Network’s (@DHIN_HIE) roots reach back to 1997 when the Delaware General Assembly enacted the organization as a public/private partnership. The objective was, and remains today, to advance the creation of a statewide health information network that addresses the state’s needs for timely, reliable and relevant health care information. In 2007, DHIN “went live” – meaning it became the first operational statewide health information exchange in the nation.

Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)
CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.
CORHIO Launches Pilot to Integrate Prescription Drug Data in the HIE – Colorado ranks 12th among U.S. states in terms of rates of misuse and abuse of prescription opioids. There are several statewide initiatives underway to curb this epidemic, including the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). The PDMP includes a database of prescribed and dispensed controlled substances, which plays a vital role in helping providers identify at-risk patients. CORHIO is excited to announce a pilot to give qualified providers on their network access to this information via the PatientCare 360® health information exchange portal.
New York -Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY)
The SHIN-NY is the only HIE that provides universal access regardless of network or EHR system. New York State has made a significant investment in the SHIN-NY and in 2016 they set a goal of connecting 100% of the PPS across the state to the SHIN-NY. The eight RHIOs that make up the SHIN-NY are working directly with the PPS organizations to meet their needs.
SHIN-NY 2020 Roadmap: How Health Information Exchange Improves Healthcare – Emphasizing the potential for universal access to health information, the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC), in conjunction with the New York State Department of Health, released the SHIN-NY 2020 Roadmap: Improving Health in Our Communities. Developed in conjunction with New York State and with stakeholder input, the report highlights the significant progress already underway and details the vision for the next phase of the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY).

Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN)
The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (@MiHIN) is Michigan’s initiative to continuously improve health care quality, efficiency, and patient safety by promoting secure, electronic exchange of health information through the MiHIN Health Information Services Cloud (HISC). MiHIN represents a growing network of public and private organizations working to overcome data sharing barriers, reduce costs, and ultimately advance the health of Michigan’s population.
Meet Tim Pletcher, Executive Director, Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services – Tim Pletcher, Executive Director of MiHIN, was interviewed as part of a series that Chilmark Research conducted with Convergence speakers prior to the event. GLHC is committed to creating care-connected communities across Michigan. Their vision is to enhance patient experience, improve health outcomes, and reduce costs across the continuum of care.
Five Take Away Thoughts From the 2017 GLHC Summit Series – The last meeting of the 2017 GLHC Summit Series took place on October 4. The insights gained during the Summit help GLHC to better understand the needs of the healthcare community across the state. According to feedback from attendees, the Summit Series also has value in distilling some of the issues that are directly impacting the delivery of care. Utah Health Information Network (UHIN)
UHIN (@UHIN_HIE) has been in operation since 1993 beginning as a claims “post office.” Today it also operates the Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE), which empowers doctors and patients to work together for safer, better-coordinated care by making crucial information available to doctors at the point of care.
A Successful 2017 UHIN Annual HIT Conference – UNIN’s Annual HIT Conference was a big success and attendees garnered a vast amount of insight and knowledge from a variety of speakers and guests including Dr. Karen DeSalvo, former Asst. Secretary of Health and Human Services, along with Nick Bonvino, CEO of Greater Houston Healthconnect and Philip Beckett, PhD, Chief Expansion Technology Officer at HASA to name a few.
