A Tale of Two Storms – Transformation of the e-Health Ecosystem between Katrina and Harvey

According to an article by Waterloo Research and Consulting the current use of e-health tools and services within the health care industry – including the adoption of electronic health records by physician and hospitals, the development of electronic health information exchange networks, and the maturation of the telemedicine market – clearly contributed positively to the quality of, and access to health care services for individuals affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Health Information Exchanges Evolve to Boost Provider Interoperability

According to HealthTech, with the 21st Century Cures Act bringing interoperability front and center for the healthcare industry, health information exchanges are poised for growth. HIEs provide the ability to securely share accurate patient health information between providers, such as doctors, nurses or pharmacists, which can help to improve the speed, safety and quality of patient care while cutting costs.
