More Time for Comments

By Art Gross – Last week, the Office for Civil Rights at the US Department of Health and Human Services announced that there would be a 45-day extension of the comment period for the public with regard to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on modifying the HIPAA Privacy Rule that was originally posted in December of 2020.

Reminder, Provide Access to Data

By Matt Fisher – The Office for Civil Rights started 2021 off with another settlement of alleged non-compliance with the HIPAA right of access. The settlement, as noted by OCR, is the 14th right of access settlement since OCR began its targeted focus on this issue in late 2019.

Potential Changes Ahead
