Amwell Announces Results for Second Quarter 2022
Amwell® (@amwell), a digital care delivery leader, announced financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2022. Amwell is driving ahead with its vision of becoming a platform of platforms with its Converge initiative with clients — most notably CVS Health — as the company moves aggressively to become a dominant player in the space in what it called a “transitional time.” Amwell CEO Ido Schoenberg led with the CVS partnership, saying the telehealth platform would be powering its new virtual care offering.

Policy News:

House passes bill to expand COVID-era telehealth services
The Hill reports that the House passed a bill Wednesday to expand telehealth services that were first introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The legislation, titled the Advancing Telehealth Beyond COVID–19 Act, passed in a 416-12 vote. Eleven Republicans and one Democrat objected to the measure. Two Republicans did not vote.

AMA hails passage of bill extending Medicare telehealth flexibilities
The American Medical Association (@AmerMedicalAssn) put out a statement announcing that they are pleased by the recent bipartisan vote in the House.

ATA AND ATA Action Applaud New Telehealth Legislation to Extend PHE Flexibilities through 2024, Urge Congress to Add Critical Provisions
The American Telemedicine Association (@AmericanTelemed) and ATA Action expressed strong support for a new, bipartisan bill sponsored by U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) and U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell (D-MI), that will remove geographic requirements and expand originating sites for telehealth services through the end of 2024, following the public health emergency-era flexibilities. The ATA and ATA Action are also urging Congress to include two other, critical provisions that will expire if action is not taken soon.
